2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

A winegrower is an interpreter, eager to assess the vineyard from all angles. Our process marries technical data with the nuanced clues unearthed by intuition. After testing for sugar and acid, we move to gauge the fruit’s ripeness on the fingertips, and to watch for the canopy’s change in hue. We learn to evaluate the chemistry at play in each berry, and to recognize the taste of raw, sun-warmed juice at its crescendo. No method is unexplored in the quest for transcendent wine.

In 2019, the vineyard experienced textbook, easeful budbreak following heavy winter rains. Impressive canopy growth primed us for a season of consecutive heat events. Temperatures remained below triple digits, within ideal range for both vine health and superb flavor concentration. The weather settled in early October allowing for an unrushed harvest.

The 2019 Estate Cabernet embodies the striking refinement of our mountain terroir. The wine opens with aromas of blueberry, rose, candied orange, and pink peppercorn. Multidimensional in every respect, the palate is texturally expansive, with a luxurious profile of bright red plums and plush cocoa woven with fennel flower and sage. True to form, our team has crafted a soaring wine that deftly balances decadence with a classic structure.
